What MyTube does

MyTube is a Chrome extension that filters YouTube recommendations by topics you describe. It reads recommendation card text on YouTube and asks our classifier whether each item fits your filters. Matching items remain visible; other items stay hidden. Shorts that do not match are skipped automatically.

Information we handle

• Account information: Clerk provides your MyTube user ID and, where available, your name, avatar, and email address so we can sign you in and show your account.
• Filters and profiles: the profile names, free-text filters, active profile, and enabled or paused state you save.
• YouTube content: the title and supporting text visible on recommendation cards, including Home, Search, watch-page recommendations, and Shorts. The extension reads page URLs, video identifiers, and page changes locally to find cards, show filtering status, and avoid classifying the same card twice. It sends video titles, supporting card text, and your filters to the MyTube backend and our AI processing provider. It does not send video identifiers or page URLs in classification requests.
• Service and usage data: request identifiers, classification counts, input-token usage, and subscription status needed for reliability, allowance metering, and billing. Hosting and authentication providers also process technical request information, such as IP addresses and errors, to deliver and secure the service.
• Website billing data: when you use the MyTube website, we use an IP-derived country code to quote a local currency. Razorpay handles payment details; MyTube does not store your card number or banking credentials.

Cookies and browser storage

The extension reads MyTube’s Clerk authentication cookies to sync your website sign-in and stores short-lived authentication tokens locally to authorize requests. It does not read YouTube login cookies. Chrome storage holds your filters, cached profile state, allowance percentage, and On/Off setting. Chrome may sync the filters through your browser account if Chrome Sync is enabled. Video identifiers, filters, and classification results are cached in browser session storage and removed when the tab closes; recommendation text is processed in memory rather than saved in that cache. The extension observes YouTube page changes and controls Shorts playback and navigation to apply your filters; it does not record keystrokes or a general browsing history.

How we use it

We use this information only to provide, secure, and improve MyTube: authenticate your account, sync your filters, classify the recommendation text you ask us to filter, prevent duplicate or abusive requests, meter your allowance, process subscriptions, answer support requests, and keep the service working. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include.

Service providers

MyTube uses Clerk for authentication, Cloudflare Workers and D1 for the application and account data, an AI processing provider for the classification decision, and Razorpay for subscription payments. These providers receive only the information needed for their service. MyTube does not sell personal information, serve personalized advertising, or use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending. MyTube’s application stores aggregate classification usage rather than a server-side history of classified video titles. Provider processing and retention are also governed by their published privacy terms.

Limited use promise

MyTube handles user data only to provide the extension’s filtering purpose and the account, billing, and support features you request. Our use and transfer of extension user data follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not transfer data for unrelated purposes or advertising. Human access is limited to specific data you consent to share for support, security or abuse investigation, legal requirements, or aggregated and anonymized internal operations. We use HTTPS for data in transit and restrict access to the systems that need it.

Retention and your choices

Profiles, filters, account records, subscription records, and aggregate usage records are retained while needed to provide your account, billing history, and service security. You can pause or delete filters in the extension, turn filtering off, cancel a subscription from your account, or ask us to delete your account data. Uninstalling the extension removes its local browser storage but does not delete your server account or cancel a paid subscription. Some billing and security records may need to be retained for legal or fraud-prevention reasons. Email privacy@ploxs.com from the address on your account for a privacy request.
